Edward Sorel: Nice Work If You Can Get It

Edward Sorel: Nice Work If You Can Get It
Edward Sorel: Nice Work If You Can Get It is a 20 minute documentary about the well known cartoonist and satirist filmed by his son, Leo Sorel.

In it the cartoonist discusses his career, his freeform, direct-in-ink drawing process and his degree of self criticism. There is also commentary from some of his famous contemporaries and younger artists who have been influenced by his work.

i’ve been an admirer of mr sorel since forever and long ago,…i saw an exhibit of his work years ago in the library of congress…i noted some years back a change in his technique,as if he drew directly with pen, freeing himself from the intermediate step of ink over pencil lines…i favored the earlier style, but over time it has become apparent he has mastered the technique and i like it…if my earlier assumption about the change is correct, do i win a toaster?

  3. You are a scholar and a gentleman for posting this, many many thanks, Edward Sorel is one of my all-time favourite artists!
