    Issues with the h e i r s of US banker and philantropist Samuel Ward Sr who commissioned Thomas Cole “TVoL’ series, but died unexpectedly in 1839, incited him to paint a second set whilst in Rome during the winter of 1841-’42.
    Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute (Museum of Art) in Utica, NY, houses the originals.
