Sometimes I think history could have just bypassed Impressionism, and gone straight from Daubigny to contemporary plein air styles.

    1. Perhaps I should rephrase… (grin). Precursors of Impressionism like Daubigny and Johan Barthold Jongkind appear to anticipate contemporary plein air styles with remarkable similarities.

    1. Yes. I certainly agree that Boudin is insufficiently appreciated, and I’m remiss in not having featured his work yet on Lines and Colors. There are some good resources on the web now.
