Perhaps I should rephrase… (grin). Precursors of Impressionism like Daubigny and Johan Barthold Jongkind appear to anticipate contemporary plein air styles with remarkable similarities.
Likewise the still-underrated – and wonderful – Eugene Boudin.
Yes. I certainly agree that Boudin is insufficiently appreciated, and I’m remiss in not having featured his work yet on Lines and Colors. There are some good resources on the web now.
