From the ridiculous to the sublime. Kelsey Beckett’s stuff not my cup of tea. But the Emile Claus is wonderful. Reminds of French campsites by the river, picnicking among the poplars. Thank you for this interesting blog.

If that’s the sun setting at the horizon, then the moon in this painting is facing the wrong direction.
Makes me wonder if the moon was added as a symbol for “evening”, without regard for depicting strict realism.
Yes, there is such as thing as artistic license.
