Eye Candy for Today: Manet still life

Still Life with Melon and Peaches, Edouard Manet
Still Life with Melon and Peaches, Edouard Manet

A summer table for you on Manet’s birthday.

Manet is noted as a figurative painter, and his still life subjects, I think, often get less attention than they deserve.

Original is in the National Gallery of Art, D.C. There is a good sized image on Wikipedia.

We should always see the eye-candy paintings in reality to react on them. What’s your opinion?

    1. Nice when possible.

  3. I like Manet. Merci beaucoup.
After a short stay in Madrid on September 14, 1865, Manet wrote to Baudelaire (French poet) that VELÁZQUES “is the greatest painter there ever was”. [Lo calificó como el «pintor de pintores» y «el más grande pintor que jamás ha existido»]
Diego (= James) Velázquez is Spanish baroque painter Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez.
