Charcoal and chalk on paper, roughly 23 x 18 inches (58 x 46 cm).

This forceful but sensitive portrait drawing by 19th century Australian artist Florence Rodway is a tour-de-force in soft edges.

  1. Ælle Avatar

FLORENCE ALINE RODWAY (1881-1971), painter and pastellist, was born on 1 1 November 1881 at Hobart, daughter of Leonard Rodway, a dentist and botanist, and Louisa Susan, nee Phillips, but who is the model, please?

    1. I didn’t see the model’s name anywhere. It may not be known.

    1. Thanks, Ælle!
