In the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Click on “Fullscreen” under then image, then use zoom or download arrow. There is an image of the painting in the ornate, portal-like frame Leighton chose for it here.
“Lachrymae” is latin for “tears”.

beautiful. love the distinct, gauzy layers of fabric and the glowing, life-like skin tones. just beautiful.
Please, is there any detailed info on the frame, Charley? Fits the perfect painting like a glove. I’d say, really, the man has taste, and so do you, for choosing it.
The only information I’ve seen on the frame is the description on the Met Museum site. It is dramatic, though, isn’t it?
